Camping in Woodcrest

We decided to go camping in Woodcrest (our backyard). Cesar did a great job making it special for all of Mateo's cousins. We set up camp complete with a campfire, tents, food and drinks. We were hoping this would be a great start to some real camping for Mateo but he decided that sleeping in his own bed was more appropriate. Ha! He couldn't quite figure out why someone would sleep outside when their house was right there! Campfire

Roasting hotdogs

Cesar split the kids into 2 teams and gave them each a kite. The first team to get it flying high in the air in the hands of the youngest teammate won (the prize was to eat first). Mateo's team won! He is explaining the rules to all of the kids...

Mateo took a while to catch on...Oh the sweet taste of victory! What's camping without smores?? I think this was by far Mateo's favorite part of camping.

And we couldn't forget our dear little Janeta who slept through it all!

One Month Old

So I can't believe it's already been a month since I've had Janeta! She is a little sweet pea and still sleeps all the time. It's such a different feeling having a girl...just as cool as having a boy but different. Mateo continues to love on her and calls her "pretty girl" and gives her hugs and kisses every time he walks by. She loves her tummy time mat (thanks Shannon) and Mateo joins in by laying next to her and showing her how all of the toys make sounds. Brother and Sister

Janeta LOVES to be on her tummy!

Gotta love the oversized bath robe!
She enjoys the sling as well because she's close to mommy. :)

This is a rare pic because she doesn't like to be put down but she enjoyed her little vibrating chair for about 5 minutes or at least long enough for me take this picture lol.

Update

It just cracks me up how many faces Janeta makes! This one is a classic "What are you doing to me mom?" She looks like she's trying to dance but she's really saying "I'm about to get upset that you're not taking me out of my crib and just taking pictures mom!"
"I love my Hello Kitty!"

Everyone has asked me about her eyes, so here they are...blue like Mateo's. I have no idea if they will stay as Mateo's are more hazel now but I must say that I'm shocked again at how strong my family's eye genes are!

The sleeping cheeks just melt my heart!

And of course I couldn't forget about my other precious creature...Mateo snacking on some wheat thins and watching Cars for the 4,376th time!

A Couple Videos

Here are 2 videos...one of Janeta right after she was born and one of Mateo pretending he's Woody from Toy Story. Enjoy!

Janeta Cynthia Chavez

Well here she is...Janeta Cynthia Chavez
Weighing in at 9 pounds 2 ounces, 21 1/2 inches long
My c-section was scheduled for 8 a.m. Friday the 14th and boy was she on schedule. She was born at 8:05 a.m.! This experience has been so much easier I can't even tell you. I'm not saying a c-section is easy but compared to my last experience, this one has been actually enjoyable! My blood sugars were great and continue to be, my pain level is almost half of what it was the first time, and Janeta is breastfeeding like a champ. My doctor got to perform my c-section and he was just as surprised as I was that she was 9 pounds. He asked me where I was hiding her!
Many people were wondering about her name and those that know me well know that she was named after my mommy Janet. She just has a slight variation and Cesar's mom's name for the middle and I love it. It just seems to fit. She is so stinking precious I can't even stand it.
Every comment I get on facebook involves her cheeks and yes they are just chubby as ever. Don't let them fool you though because she's actually quite tiny everywhere else!
Tiny toes

I love this pic because it showcases her full head of shiny, soft, blonde tipped hair! Oh along with the comment about where she was hiding, my doctor also commented on her abundance of hair! I play with it all of the time. I hope it doesn't fall out like Mateo's!

She loves the swing like Mateo did and has all sorts of funny faces!

I was really worried about Mateo's transition into having a sister and sharing her with mama and dada but he has been amazing. He kisses her often and tells me when she's crying and tells people who have stopped by that she is his sister and her name is Janeta. He is still a 2 year old and has told me to put her back in the swing and make her go to sleep too HA!

She sleeps a lot and loves to be up from about 1:30 to 4:00 (God give me strength) but Cesar has been amazing cooking yummy meals, keeping the house clean, going on daily outings with Mateo, and of course loving on his daughter. I feel blessed and can't wait to see how she changes in the next couple weeks. Her eyes have been blue, brown, and hazel so who knows on those...

My Love/Hate Relationship with Mother's Day

I love Mother's Day because I have the most amazing son in the world! I savor motherhood and know that it is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I feel like I was definitely wired to be a mom and would never feel truly complete without it. We just got back from the Aquarium of the Pacific and it's our third time (1st-Mateo was 2 months old, 2nd-Mateo was just over a year old) and it's amazing to see the growth and development in our son. He led US around and gave us information about the different kinds of fish. I laugh at myself because it doesn't take much to make me happy these days but simply watching my son and all the funny things he does and says. It's also very cool that in less than a week I will be the mother to a new daughter whom I am dying to meet!!
I hate Mother's Day because I don't get to spend it with my own mom. I miss her terribly and wish she was here to see me as a mom. Without a doubt, she shaped me as a person and now as a mother. I know, I know everyone says she's here in spirit or watching from above but I'm sorry it's not the same. I want to hug HER, talk to HER, do anything with HER. So yes as stated in my post title, a part of me hates Mother's Day.
I will obviously spend Mother's Day with the LOVE feeling tomorrow and will hide those other feelings behind something as I've become quite good at over the years. The LOVE now far exceeds anything negative....thanks Mateo!
To all the amazing moms out there....HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

Baseball and Baby

I got myself a new Flip video camera and I LOVE it! It is so easy to use and so small. This is just a cute video of Mateo and Cesar playing "baseball" with an incredibly heavy bat! As for a pregnancy update: I only have a week and a half and I'm feeling "almost" ready. The baby's room is done, the car seat is washed and ready to go, and I will be working on my hospital bag tonight. I'm getting anxious to meet this new little lady and especially now that Erin, Libby, and Nadene had their babies!!!
