Happy 1st Anniversary!

So a lot has happened in a year as indicated by the pics! Cesar and I went to Maui for our honeymoon and one of our favorite places to eat was the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. We decided to head to Long Beach to their rendition of Bubba Gumps. It wasn't as magical as the one in Maui since it wasn't sitting on flourescent colored water but it did the trick. It also happens to be right across the street from the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific so we though Mateo would love that. His favorite thing to do right now is try to eat his crab rattle!

Mateo was mesmorized by all the sea creatures especially the sharks!

This was the mean old shark he kept tracking! He had razor sharp teeth and made all the other sharks look like goldfish.

So the baby bjorn (carrier) is our favorite thing as Mateo loves to just check everything out. Here is Mateo with daddy right before seeing the tropical birds.

Here is Mateo after about 2 hours of walking around.

So we tried to take a family photo before the little guy passed out...but this is about the best we could do...notice the balding going on with poor little Mateo's head!

A Day at the Beach

We decided to head to Doheny Beach for our nephew Geronimo's 13th birthday. Mateo thought that the beach was so calming, he fell asleep 5 minutes after arriving. When he woke up, he played in the water with his daddy.

What's growing outside the Chavez casa?

For those that have not seen my house before...here it is. Cesar and I built our house in 2004 and continue to find projects to make it look better. (Pretend we don't still have christmas icicle lights up!)

After reading Libby's blog with all her amazing plants and garden produce, I thought I might add in some pics of what's growing around our casa. My hibiscus are gorgeous right now as well as the palms and elephant ears. The little green plant is a cucumber and tomatoes and chiles are growing in the barrel.

Just a Day in the Life of Mateo...

I had to get a picture of us in the baby bjorn because this is where we spend half our day! I think Mateo thinks he's the one actually doing the walking. We take many walks each day and have roamed quite a few stores in this thing!

Since Mateo has learned how to roll over, I had to get him a mobile. Both of these pics are of him watching his rainforest creatures move around (the mobile).

Summer Lovin'

This was Mateo's first time in the pool! He spent almost 2 hours just hanging with his Tia. We're hoping this is the first of many enjoyable pool days.

Sitting Up

I couldn't resist putting these pictures up because Mateo looked so darn cute sitting up like a big boy in his bumbo chair. He is extremely strong (he was able to pull himself to standing position when he was only a couple weeks old) so sitting up was a breeze. He can't sit up by himself yet, only with support but it's amazing how many milestones they meet so quickly! *Notice the dimple on his elbow in the 2nd picture!

Shotgun & Inca

I couldn't leave out a picture of our 2 chihuahuas. They used to be pampered and loved like they were my children until I actually had my son and now they are quite sad! They have always slept outside but spent most of the day inside, but now they are almost strictly outside dogs. When Mateo gets a little older they will resume their past rankings!
