Where's my baby boy?

I am a little bit in shock that I'm trying to plan my son's 2nd birthday party! Wasn't he just born? I know that every mom says time flies when talking about their children but it's so true. I'm anxiously looking forward to my daughter's arrival as I embrace Mateo's growth into independence. He saw my belly move today and said "Sister's in there!" and my heart melted.

Sweet Juicy Oranges

Cesar thought I was so weird for busting out my camera to take these pics, but I just can't completely describe how unbelievably good our oranges are right now! We have two trees that have produced the sweetest, juiciest oranges ever. I know you can't taste a picture but hopefully they do them justice.

Morning Bliss

I used these coffee grounds...
with this DeLonghi espresso machine...
to make this delicous iced americano!

I drink a Starbucks tall iced americano with cream and one sweet-and-low every morning and I came to the conclusion that this was not so cost effective. I have bought a couple different machines through the years but they've always pulled horrible espresso shots. I was a barista in college so I know what good espresso shots are supposed to look and taste like. I researched different machines and ended up going with this one because it was small, a good price, and was known for pulling great shots. I am very impressed with the results as I'm a bit particular about my coffee.
It's been quite a treat to make one of these each morning just the way I like it!

Baby's Nursery

Cesar finished painting the nursery on Valentine's Day and it looks like Neopolitan ice cream! It's adorable. There are 2 light brown walls and one pink. We left the twin bed in her room and just exchanged the green sheets from Mateo's camping theme to pink. The crib will be coming soon and I can't wait to see how the bedding will look with these colors! Here is the changing table/hutch we had made. It's amazing that in 3 months it will be put to use!

Could I love anyone more?

So as the arrival of the new baby approaches, I can't help but cherish the time I have with Mateo-just me and him. He is the most precious little almost 2 year old and I can't believe I created him! He is so smart, loving, and funny. He gives me hugs and kisses when I least expect it and tells me that mama is pretty. He tells me please and thank you and blesses me if I sneeze. He carries on 30 second conversations about all kinds of things he finds interesting. He tells me someone needs help and grabs his fire truck or something needs fixing and grabs his drill. He kisses all characters in his books as well as our dogs Shotgun and Inca. He thinks story time at the library is the best weekly occurrence as well as spotting Charlie the horse on the way there. His heart is huge and quite frankly the thought of loving another child more is somewhat incomprehensible. I know it's possible just a difficult thought at this stage. He is now going to have to share mommy with a sister. I see this next stage as being crucial to his development and I am confident he will soar, just as he did with sleeping in his big boy bed or going off the bottle, but it still will arrive with a wee bit of anxiety. I'm going to make the most of these next 3 months and continue to cherish this little being that insists he needs a piece of gum as soon as he wakes up.

New Room

We moved Mateo into a new big boy"CARS" room and he loves it! I didn't take many pics of the room for some strange reason so look for those in another post BUT I did snap a pic of him in his new big boy bed and reading area. I walked in yesterday to check on him because he had slept for so long and judging by the picture, I can tell. He looked so comfortable! I love to walk in and see him doing puzzles or reading books by himself (a teacher's dream right?!?).

Exploring the Outside World

My little man absolutely LOVES to be outside! I'm so thankful that we have plenty of land for him to explore. He is usually out the door, still in his pajammies (as seen in the pics) creating all sorts of mischief.

He is especially fond of the plethora of bugs he comes across while "exploring". And what would a morning of exploring be without a Starbucks passion fruit iced tea?
