Oak Glen

Oak Glen is one of my favorite places as it reminds me of home. Many of you know that I grew up across the street from Lattin's Country Cider Mill and it was an integral part of my childhood and hometown experiences. This area is gorgeous and has that hometown feel. Mateo had a blast with his cousins, catching fish and feeding the animals! If this isn't the funniest looking llama you've ever seen...
Someone found a fire truck!
Mateo with all of his cousins!

Have you noticed the cheese smile Mato has picked up?

Fishing!

Mateo kept thinking it was a better idea to put the pole IN the water because it was closer to the fishies!

Just about to net the fish...

Here is the fish that Mateo and his dada caught!

Thomas the Train

We decided to head out to the Thomas the Train exhibit today for a couple hours and Mateo had a great time. The pictures are in a backwards sequential order so the first picture is actually the last we took in front of the Thomas the Train engine. It was actually really cold for our neck of the woods, hence the jackets and hats.
Mateo is saying "Choo Choo" in this picture!

They had a bunch of wooden Thomas stations and I swear Mateo would have been just fine if this was the only stop we made.

They had a little petting zoo and he was running around saying "sheep, goat, piggy, and horsey". He knows these animals from his books but has only seen a goat and horse in real life so he was super excited.

Guess Who's Having Triplets?

NOT ME!

But I am pregnant! Hehehe

Baby #2 Due in May 2010

We decided to wait a while this time to tell the family and let me tell you...it was hard! I have been so sick. My pregnancy with Mateo was so stinkin easy that this one seemed far more difficult. I am now getting over the "morning sickness" or as I would like to refer to as "all day sickness" and hoping for some smooth sailing for a while! I am so excited to give Mateo a brother or sister. This will be the 10th grandchild in the Chavez family and only 1, yes 1, is a girl!

What's Been Going on in Mateo's Neck of the Woods?

Mateo LOVES to be outside, especially on his bike. He also prefers to hang out in his diaper rather than waste time wearing expensive clothes!
He has also taken a liking to working out with his dada.

Stickers are always a hit.

I have mentioned before that Mateo has an impressive swing and he continues to perfect his craft, especially now that his grandpa bought him his very own toddler Snoopy golf club set!

He is definitely into Thomas the Train and will climb up into this office chair and try to turn on the Thomas and friends website. Here he is clapping after one of the songs.

And here is proof that he has spent plenty of time in the SUN! hehe

Visiting Jeaner

We got the chance to visit one of my best friends Jean and it was so great to catch up and see her beautiful family. She has an almost 4 year old daughter Anne and another daughter that's almost 2 named Katie. As you will notice from the pictures, Katie and Mateo make a great future couple!!!

Mateo Van Gogh

Mateo decided he wanted to paint since it finally cooled down into the high 80's by dinner! He is so adorable when he paints because he acts as though he is doing a high priority job. He loves washing off his paintbrushes in water. As you can see by his artwork, he is well on his way to becoming a distinguished artist...hehe.

Summer Update

We have been taking Mateo to swim lessons and he has come so far in his water confidence. He's kicking like crazy and loving being in the pool with his cousins! This was his first day and obviously pre-haircut. A few weeks back, we went to Palm Springs and the hotel had an amazing pool. Here's Mateo with his Nana.

This isn't a great picture but there is a slide in the top left hand corner and Mateo loved it! I wa a bit scared to put him down it but Cesar was at the bottom and it went really slow.
